**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Reporting directly to the Youth Coordinator, the Youth Development Officer is responsible for developing collaborative relationships with service providers, young people and other stakeholders to achieve the actions from the Cumberland Youth Strategy. The position is responsible for delivering high quality partnerships, projects, initiatives, deliver on strategies and successful outputs for Council. The Youth Development Officer is responsible for sector development for the youth sector in Cumberland and will be held accountable for the successful delivery of key strategies, projects, programs and coordination across the following functions:

- Work in partnership with service providers and stakeholders to implement and deliver on the Cumberland Youth Strategy and any Council strategy relevant to young people.
- Establish, facilitate and maintain partnerships with and between youth services, community organisations, government agencies and anyone working with young people in Cumberland to strengthen collaboration and coordination to improve outcomes for local young people.
- Develop capacity building initiatives to support and sustain the local youth and community sector.

The position sits within the dynamic Community and Culture Directorate and will have a high level of interaction young people across the Cumberland community and youth sector as well as collaboration with other sections of Council.

**The successful applicant will require**:

- Tertiary qualifications in youth work, community development, social science or a related field.
- Valid Working with Children Check clearance.
- Demonstrated understanding of child protection, including issues and legislation, risk management, responding to incidents and disclosures.
- Advanced understanding of the youth sector and the needs, issues and legislation relating to young people 12 to 25 years including assessment, referral and advocacy of, and for, young people.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, including high level knowledge and experience in report writing.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including sound knowledge and experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of projects, and managing a diverse range of tasks with competing priorities and changing deadlines.
- Experience and ability to build, maintain and review partnerships with service providers and stakeholders to plan and deliver effective outcomes for young people.
- High level of group forming and facilitation skills including experience in overseeing inter-agency formats.
- High level administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, implement and review policy and procedure which aligns with relevant legislation and best practice models.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate (or willing to obtain).

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This position will be located at the Merrylands Service Centre and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations, with frequent travel required across Council worksites.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,464.40 to $1,684.06 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
