About the role/Job Summary: The role Chemistry Technician contributes to the development, design and delivery of projects for new or existing process unit operations in order to enhance plant operational performance and improve system documentation.
Tasks specific to this role include: Ensure that Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental objectives are achieved by providing leadership that establishes a strong commitment to safety and the environment.In compliance with company policy and current legislation, ensure his/her own and others' health and safety Principal accountabilities will be achieved by applying the Mackay Sugar's behaviours and values in all work activities.Provide day to day technical support to Factory Production staff as needed during crushing operations.Support root cause analysis and process investigations following significant plant stoppages and operational incidents in conjunction with other site teams.Perform laboratory tests as required including operation of juice sampling equipment, disintegrators & tumbler equipment, analytical & top-pan laboratory balances and automatic & manual burettes and pipettes; Laboratory analysis of first expressed juice, prepared cane for POC, bagasse for extraction, muds for Pol, ESJ for purity and pH, Mill condensates and waste waters for trace sugars and pH and first expressed Juice for dextran;Provide support to ensure the successful implementation of all operational projects in conjunction with the Production / Maintenance Teams;Actively contribute to and maintain the site management of change (MOC) process for site infrastructure, operational procedures and documentation;Continue and support production standardisation in conjunction with the Production Manager and Maintenance Manager and their relevant teams.
We are looking for a person with: A strong safety focus and concern for the health and wellbeing of you and your work mates;Tertiary Qualifications in Applied Science or Chemical Engineering; 2 Years work experience within the Manufacturing / Process / Construction Industries must hold Sugar experience;Proven problem solving knowledge;Ability to work in a team environment;Strong leadership and communication skills;The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and deliver information with a high level of accuracy; andA focus on internal customer service.
