Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Queensland Government Full time

The role
As the Fire Safety and Emergency Response Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and emergency preparedness at the CPHS campus. You will be responsible for maintaining the Fire Safety Checklist, developing and implementing fire safety operational plans, and ensuring that evacuation plans, signage, and emergency response procedures align with legislative requirements. As the Chief Warden, you will oversee emergency response exercises, including lockdowns and evacuations, while providing high-level advisory services to executives, managers, and staff on fire safety and emergency response. Your role will involve monitoring fire maintenance requirements, inspecting emergency equipment, and assisting stakeholders with chemical safety compliance. Additionally, you will contribute to policy development, review emergency codes, and provide detailed reports on campus fire safety performance.
This role requires a strong ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment while ensuring statutory compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and policies. You will be expected to provide expert advice, facilitate training sessions, and develop strategies to enhance fire safety awareness across the campus. As a key member of the Emergency Planning Committee, you will support the development of business continuity plans and disaster response strategies. Success in this role will require demonstrated experience in fire safety coordination, risk management, and emergency response, along with a sound understanding of Queensland Health regulations, Australian Standards, and relevant legislation. A Fire Safety Advisor qualification is highly regarded, and a commitment to ethical decision-making and workplace safety is essential.
