No one else does exactly what we do in the way we do it.The Role:ThisSeasonal Firefighterrole will see you providing range management services to the Defence Force and is a crucial component in ensuring the live-fire ranges are used safely.This is a6-month fixed term, full time role starting from 1st November 2025 – 31st January 2026 with possibility of being extended till end of April.
The role is based atthe Puckapunyal Military Base.Duties & responsibilities:Undertake first response bush firefighting activities.Maintain and Operate Range Live Fire Target Equipment.Ensure adherence to Range Standing Orders and report any identified breaches immediately to range Control.Undertake Land management activities including but not limited to grass cutting, weed spraying and mapping.Assist the Range Supervisor with HSE Site Inspections, Job Analysis and safety Observations.What you'll need to be successful:Computer skills including Word & Excel experience – desirable.Ability to use tools specific to range operations and maintenance processes including (but not limited to) power tools and chain saws.Experience in radio communication, both on handheld and vehicle mounted radios (PUAOPE002B – Operate communication systems and equipment).
Demonstrate ability to read andnavigate using a map and compass including highly competent in map to ground navigation from a vehicle.Manual Car drivers' licence.Manual Heavy vehicle licences - Medium Rigid (MR) and/or Heavy Rigid (HR)Certificate in First Aid (desirable).
