We are one of the largest suppliers of essential services in the region and are committed to keeping infrastructure working for our communities.The RoleThis Seasonal Firefighter role involves providing range management services to the Defence Force, ensuring the safe use of live-fire ranges.This is a full-time, fixed-term role starting from 1st November 2025 to 31st January 2026, with a possibility of extension until the end of April.
The role is based at the Puckapunyal Military Base.Duties & ResponsibilitiesUndertake first response bush firefighting activities.Maintain and operate range live fire target equipment.Ensure adherence to range standing orders and report breaches to range control.Perform land management activities such as grass cutting, weed spraying, and mapping.Assist the Range Supervisor with HSE site inspections, job analysis, and safety observations.Qualifications & SkillsComputer skills, including Word & Excel (desirable).
Experience with tools used in range operations, such as power tools and chainsaws.Experience in radio communication, both handheld and vehicle-mounted.Ability to read maps and navigate using a compass, with proficiency in map-to-ground navigation from a vehicle.Manual car driver's license.Manual heavy vehicle licenses (Medium Rigid and/or Heavy Rigid).
First Aid certificate (desirable).
