**About the role**
APRA's mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.
To help us deliver on our mandate and strategic priorities, our Banking team is looking for highly talented individuals with experience in either Retail or Non-Retail Credit Risk to join us in a critical area of the division.
**The responsibilities include**:
- Leading credit reviews and coordinating the review team. Delivering in-depth analysis, risk assessment, and problem solving in collaboration with other members of the Credit Risk team and internal stakeholders;
- Leading projects and other ad hoc initiatives leveraging an aptitude in analytical thinking and innovation;
- Reviewing documents and reports pertaining to credit risk and derive meaningful insights to support APRA's ongoing supervision;
- Maintaining effective working relationships, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Maintaining and enhancing up to date and relevant knowledge of issues impacting credit risk profiles within regulated institutions and within the Australian financial system; and
- Identification of emerging risks and prioritisation of existing risks ensuring adequate coverage, providing sound assurance as to the resilience of the financial system.
**About you**

You will work amongst a team of highly skilled credit specialists, to positively influence industry best practice and the stability of the Australian financial system. Within this environment, you will have the opportunity to contribute your analytical expertise, as well as expanding your current skill set.
To be successful you will have a relevant background in credit decisioning, credit analysis, credit assurance roles or credit portfolio management. You will have good knowledge of all typical financial products offered, strong analytical, organisational and negotiation skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of business.
You will have very well-developed written and verbal communication skills for advising internal stakeholders, explaining procedure, determining requirements and an ability to translate technical concepts for a broad audience. Your business writing should be sharp and succinct, evidencing your ability to assess a wide variety of information sources to distil key issues. Additionally, you will possess a keen eye for detail and priority management skills. Finally, you will have a positive mindset and an energetic approach to problem solving with a willingness to offer new ideas and a fresh perspective. Qualifications in a finance-related discipline are desirable.
