At Leichhardt, we maintain high expectations, promote optimism, and treat everyone with dignity, creating a positive and inclusive school culture.About the RoleAs the Guidance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting school communities by leading the development and implementation of programs that help students achieve positive educational and lifelong outcomes. You will work collaboratively to create early intervention and preventative strategies that address students' personal, social, emotional, and educational needs while building their resilience and essential life skills. This dynamic role involves managing a comprehensive, adaptable student support program in partnership with school staff and external experts, ensuring every student receives the care they need to thrive. Through ongoing clinical and professional supervision, you will continuously enhance your expertise to make a meaningful impact in diverse educational settings.Your ResponsibilitiesAs the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, individual student support, recommendations, and advice to students, teachers, and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health, and family issues. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel, and external support agencies to provide comprehensive support, case management, and referral services that optimise students' access to and engagement in educational programs. Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision-making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional, and career development, and offer ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decisions.Please refer to the attached role description for the full list of responsibilities and mandatory requirements for this position.Interested?
