The Strategic Adviser is a critical role responsible for providing expert advice and strategic and operational support to the Executive Director, Asset Development and Infrastructure Advisory and supports strategic coordination of Branch activities to ensure the successful delivery of key government priorities.
The role requires a person who is a proactive self-starter with a strong understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast-paced environment. The role also requires high levels of adaptability and a commitment to contribute to a professional and supportive work environment.
The role also requires a sound policy and strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive outcomes, with experience providing high level strategic advice on complex issues.

Accountabilities
- Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.
- Forge strong connections across the Branch, the Victorian Health Building Authority and the department to maintain productive relationships with colleagues to provide timely expert advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative options and solutions to complex and sensitive issues.
- Provide strategic leadership to the management and delivery of branch submissions, briefings and responses to corporate and government requirements, including business planning, performance monitoring and reporting, risk management and finance and resource management in line with departmental and divisional priorities.
- Support senior management to set and achieve key performance indicators and standards, and drive strategies that achieve continuous quality improvement.
- Facilitate the engagement and input of a wide range of stakeholders within agreed timelines given their varying expectations, viewpoints and interests. Undertake research and investigations into delivery issues, risks and trends impacting on achieving key business objectives and operational imperatives.
- Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports and Provide strategic support to ministerial, parliamentary, departmental divisional executive functions and processes.
- Prepare timely and expert advice on cross-portfolio, Cabinet, ministerial, executive and advisory boards and steering committees to support effective decision making by senior leaders.
- Develop and manage frameworks for reporting routines and data analysis to support decision making across priority outcomes. Maintain effective and transparent reporting routines.
- Interpret and translate data and complex information into clear communications using 'story telling' techniques to illustrate the delivery of government priorities.
