Expertise in visitor and recreation planning and management will also be highly regarded in contributing to the Region's strategic approach to managing visitors. The position will interpret and work consistently with departmental operational polices and guidelines, and work closely with regional management units (rangers), relevant central office units and external stakeholders and customers. Experience in assessing potential impacts of activities on the natural, cultural and social values of parks and forests will also be well regarded, as will a sound understanding of legislation guiding visitor use and managing visitor-related use of parks and forests.
**As the Ranger (Visitor) you will**:
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, and continuously improve strategies and systems for tourism and visitor management in protected areas and State forests.
- Provide advice and assistance to regional staff, other department staff and external stakeholders on tourism and visitor management issues.
- Assist in developing policies and operating procedures relating to managing tourism and outdoor recreation on protected areas and State forests.
- Assist the Unit Manager to represent the Department at industry forums, interdepartmental and other committees.
- Prepare briefings, reports, recommendations and correspondence and answer inquiries on tourism and visitor management issues.
- Provide general administrative support to the unit
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people
