Schedule: Weekdays covering shifts 07:00am – 11:00pm and weekend shifts 09:00am – 07:00pm.

About the role
You will be an experienced Scientist primarily based at the Noosa Laboratory, with occasional coverage at the Buderim Laboratory.
You will be responsible for:
Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
Perform routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
Assist with stock control
Maintain records and ensure results are recorded in line with protocols
Maintain and operate equipment according to protocols
Maintain current scientific knowledge
Participate in routine and audit-related Quality Assurance activities
Contribute to continuous improvement and development of new assays as required
Participate in training staff
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals as necessary
Comply with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes
About you
To be considered, you will meet essential requirements:
Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) or other equivalent AIMS-accredited degree
Demonstrated experience and skills within the discipline
Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in line with NATA/ISO accreditation
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Commitment to quality and excellence
Willingness to adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures
Positive attitude and teamwork
Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a busy environment
Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
Attention to detail and accuracy
This role may require vaccination history and evidence for department-specific diseases
