As a result of our rapid expansion and growth serving some of the world's largest companies, we are seeking an Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our Finance and Operations team. Working with the Head of Finance you will be responsible for maintaining finance and accounting operations and generating scale and efficiency within our global business. This role offers the flexibility to work on a part-time basis with both career and role expansion upside.

The Role_**:
Working within our Business Operations team your core purpose is to deliver scale to XY Sense so we can enable more humans to better interact with the built environment. As our bookkeeping custodian, you will be supporting day to day business operations focusing on finance and accounting needs with high levels of accuracy and timeliness.
**_ The work you'll do_**:
- Management of daily bookkeeping functions and operations for our Australian operating entity.
- Reconciliation of expenses and receipts ensuring all records and operating systems meet audit requirements.
- Manage correspondence with customers, suppliers and employees relating to accounts and finance queries
- Maintain records of accounting and finance processes for internal communication across our knowledge bases and employee communication channels.
- Prepare weekly and monthly payroll reporting on any variances and establishing payruns for approval and processing through our bank accounts
- Assist in the preparation of month end close and reporting requirements.
- In partnership with the Hardware supply team, maintain records of inventory and reporting against stock purchasing plans with vendors.
- In partnership with Revenue Operations maintain records and reporting on sales and account renewals.

Obviously as an accounting based role, you will show diligence and discipline as risk mitigation is core to your mission
Aside from these personal and professional characteristics, we are looking for someone who has demonstrable skills and experience in the following areas.
- 2+ years of tertiary level education in accounting and finance or 5+ years proven practical experience.
- Proficiency working with Xero to manage business accounting requirements, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable processes, and payroll.
- Strong operational knowledge of Australian accounting and bookkeeping requirements
- USA accounting and bookkeeping requirements a bonus
- Comfort working in excel/Google sheets - the more you can do in this important tool, the better.
- Experience working with SaaS business models. Alternatively with a technology or hardware company.
- High level of attention to detail enabling you to self-identify errors, discrepancies and work with numerical datasets and contracts
- Great communication skills (written and verbal) enabling you to coordinate with a range of stakeholders and provide professional customer service.
- Strong technical knowledge enabling you to work efficiently and at pace with cloud based project management and communication tools - we are a technology company after all

**When will you work?** As a part-time position we are open to someone who wants to work 3 days per week or spread their hours over 4 or 5 days per week. What work gets done is more important than when it is done. However you will need to be working and have availability with your Australian based colleagues and to a lesser degree, your USA based colleagues.
