An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Traditional Owner Relationships and Heritage Branch as Heritage Project Officer, Loddon Mallee Heritage Programs, to manage and protect Aboriginal cultural heritage across regional Victoria.
The responsibilities of the Heritage Services team include administering the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, maintaining a register of Aboriginal places and objects, working collaboratively with Registered Aboriginal Parties, and fulfilling the Secretary's role in administering Cultural Heritage Permits and Cultural Heritage Management Plan.
As the Heritage Project Officer, Loddon Mallee Heritage Programs you will work with local Aboriginal communities to coordinate and/or deliver FPSR project-based work to strengthen the Aboriginal community's capacity to manage their cultural heritage and identified culturally significant places and landscapes within the region. Assisting to develop and maintain collaborative and strategic relationships through engagement and partnering with stakeholders to improve understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 will also be an essential requirement of this role.
Please note, a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (History, Archaeology, Cultural Heritage, Anthropology) and a current driver's licence are mandatory for this role.
