This position is to provide recreational and leisure activities for residents to enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing. To provide support to colleagues, students, all volunteers, relatives and friends of residents. To assist provide adequate documentation of resident Care Plans within our care management software. All Lifestyle staff are required to be flexible to work in all areas including the dementia/high care areas.
- Report to the RN/EN re any changes in resident condition and any relevant information
- Follow the program as directed by the Lifestyle/Volunteer Coordinator and assist create innovation within that program
- In the lounge room / dining room areas set the mood with quiet music, appropriate activities and hand massages etc
- Assist with meal delivery and support of resident behaviour as required
- Help assist residents to the lounge after tea and provide quiet engaging activities
- Create a calming and safe environment
- Provide 1:1 / group activities in the lounge area with the residents as per Lifestyle program
- Provide supper to the residents in lounge area with sandwiches prepared by kitchen staff
- Document in Leecare progress notes - exceptional reporting if necessary
- Complete assessments and review the lifestyle care plans of the residents as directed by the Lifestyle/Volunteer Coordinator
- Complete programmed evaluation of activities
- Actively promote resident's independence, choice, emotional well being
- Attend meetings as designated by the Lifestyle Coordinator
- Maintain and protect resident and company confidentiality and ensure that the privacy and dignity of residents is respected at all times
- Support the maintenance of mobility/dexterity
- Participate in the evaluation of own performance at least once a year, to ensure that the needs of the organisation and own needs are being met.
- Attend appropriate training and development programs where required
- Perform according to the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of St Paul's Lutheran Homes

Qualifications & Experience
- Holds or is working towards relevant Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or Bachelor of Health Sciences or a recognised qualification in Diversional Therapy
- Ability to work in a team as a team member and show initiative when necessary
- Innovative for the resident needs and gender
- Flexible, humour and versatility
- Affinity for working with the frail elderly
- Committed to ongoing continuing education and improvement
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience in working within a lifestyle program
- Demonstrated commitment to provide social activities and care to the aged
- Experience in gerontic care
- Knowledge and understanding of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation
- Maintains competence and increases knowledge through self-directed education
