Unlocking Youth Mental Health with Data Science
As a data scientist, you have the unique opportunity to combine your technical skills with a passion for improving youth mental health. At the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre, we are harnessing the power of data to develop innovative treatments for young people aged 12-25 with emerging mental health disorders.
We take a collaborative approach, working closely with senior academics, data engineers, mathematical modellers, and clinicians to deliver high-quality research outputs. Your role will involve conducting data wrangling from multimodal and disparate sources for data analytics, contributing to the development of novel methodologies to model illness trajectories in youth mental health, and facilitating their application and use in health services utilising digital technologies.
About You
You have at least 2 years of experience in mathematics, statistics, and/or data science roles (or related relevant fields).
You possess fluency in R or another modern data-science language such as Python.
You have experience in wrangling data from multimodal and disparate sources into formats for statistical analysis.
You are skilled in processing high-frequency sensor or digital phenotyping data at scale.
You have knowledge in machine learning and longitudinal modelling, preferably applied to the field of mental health.
You have experience dealing with real-world data sets, including heterogeneous structured data with missing or unreliable fields.
You possess excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
You can work effectively, collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You can work independently and complete tasks on time with minimal supervision.
