Youth Mental Health Clinician - Sutherland MHS

Join NSW Health as a Youth Mental Health Clinician at Team 2 Community Mental Health - Sutherland Mental Health Service. Employment Type: Permanent Full Time. Position Classifications include Occupational Therapist Level 1, Occupational Therapist Level 2, Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker Level 1, Social Worker Level 2. Remuneration: $72,152.53 - $113,226.00 per annum, plus superannuation. Hours Per Week: 38. Location: Caringbah, Sydney. Applications close date: 28 September 2025.

What you'll be doing

We are looking for a motivated and engaging Mental Health Clinician who is passionate about helping young people with mental illness. You will join a forward-thinking, recovery-focused, multidisciplinary team within Community Mental Health, Sutherland Mental Health Service, located on The Sutherland Hospital campus, Caringbah.

Role is available for eligible applicants across several professional backgrounds, with opportunities to contribute to assessment, engagement, and evidence-based interventions for youth mental health in the community setting.

Selection Criteria (Qualifications and Experience)
  • Professional qualification in either Social Work (eligible for membership of AASW), Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration, Registered Nurse with no restrictions to practice with current AHPRA registration, or Psychology with current AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with emerging major mental disorders, including updated risk presentations (UHR) for psychosis.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a community mental health setting.
  • Experience in provision of evidence-based psychological interventions for emerging mental disorders, including UHR for psychosis.
  • Highly developed skills in engagement and therapeutic alliance.
  • Experience in providing comprehensive mental health assessment, formulation and treatment planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current driver's licence or willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
