**Position Information**:
Sir Joseph Banks High School is a comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 725 mainstream students and a Support Unit of 72 students catering for 3 Intellectually Mild and 2 Intellectually Moderate classes. We are a vibrant and proudly inclusive, multicultural learning community (84% NESB), with 28 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island students, who have built a strong learning culture of Excellence, Innovation, Opportunity and Success.

Our school is building teacher capacity through professional learning teams who are working on Future Focused Learning and implementing Project Based Learning, Visible Learning and Growth Mindset as part of our curriculum.

There are highly developed strong partnerships with our primary partners through the development of a Community of Schools, local, metropolitan and global businesses through Australian Business Community Network, several TAFEs and all major universities.

We are a high growth high school achieving at the top 1% in NSW for growth in literacy and numeracy between Years 9-12. For the last five years, every student on an ATAR pattern of study has attained offers at the university of their choice.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated capacity to lead, engage and empower staff to implement the schools' Strategic Directions through a literacy/ English lens.
- Proven capacity to lead the implementation of innovative, future focused programs that deliver outstanding outcomes and address the diverse learning needs of every students including those from a low socio economic and/or non-English speaking background.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
