This is an exciting opportunity for a professional and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated Veterans SA team within Defence SA and contribute to meaningful outcomes for current and former serving Australian Defence Force members and their families living in South Australia.

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in stakeholder engagement to join our dedicated team. Reporting to the Director of Veterans SA, this role will be instrumental in planning, developing, and delivering programs that support the South Australian veteran community.

This is a contract position for up to 12 months at 0.9 FTE, presenting a unique opportunity to be part of a small, high-achieving team committed to making a meaningful impact for veterans and their families. You will have the chance to influence new approaches within the South Australian government and lead initiatives that foster collaboration with the community.

**About Us**

Veterans SA was established in 2008 as the first state jurisdiction to recognise the importance of a veterans' affairs portfolio. Veterans SA is dedicated to advocacy for current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

We work across all levels of government with private industry and with ex-service organisations and associations to advise, inform and educate on the unique nature of military service as it relates to the uniformed member and to their families, and provide information and guidance on the value and skills that this cohort of people can bring to the community.

We also play a role in sharing information about services, supports and programs that are available to veterans across the State of SA, and we provide ministerial advice to the Minister's Office and the South Australian Government in relation to veterans' matters, as well as administering and distributing grant funds and providing secretariat support for the Minister's Veterans Advisory Council.

Veterans SA sits within Defence SA, a small and dynamic state government agency that advocates for the defence and space industry sectors as well as supporting the Australian Defence Force in South Australia.

**Role Purpose/Context**:
The Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing a wide variety of programs relating to the defence and veteran community including designing and delivering policy-informed initiatives and coordinating project activities, ensuring alignment with the Veterans SA Strategic Outlook, Action Plans and across-Government goals and objectives.

The Program Manager will:

- Lead all programs, projects and events within the Veterans SA team, working closely with the Director and in collaboration with Policy Advisors to inform future strategies, monitor progress, address issues, and mitigate risks.
- Lead the creation of a comprehensive engagement and consultation framework for programs, outreach and events relating to the Defence and veteran community that aligns with the agency's strategic aims and outcomes.
- Lead and manage the planning and implementation of all Veterans SA events.
- With the Director and Policy Advisors, work with key South Australian government agencies to inform programs and initiatives for veterans and their families.
- Collaborate with identified South Australian-based agencies (federal, state and local) to enhance state government engagement in the transition process for veterans and their families.
