Mainframe Software Engineer

Job Title
We are seeking a seasoned Java software engineer with a proven track record in legacy system maintenance and modernization. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mainframe and Solaris-hosted applications.
This role involves sustaining and optimizing mission-critical systems, driving improvements, and ensuring operational excellence through 24/7 application support.
Maintain and enhance legacy Java applications hosted on Mainframe/Solaris.
Optimize applications to extend usability and minimize downtime.
Conduct thorough testing and provide end-user support for legacy systems.
Perform in-depth problem analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incident/problem tickets.
Oversee operational monitoring, alerting, and tuning of systems.
Proactively propose and implement innovative solutions aligned with modern technologies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Ensure robust application control across mainframe architecture, middleware, and tooling.
Deliver 24/7 application support as part of a roster.
Mandatory Requirements:
Australian citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance recommended).
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in:
Java development.
XML/XSLT skills.
Technical expertise in mainframe environment software development & maintenance.
Application control in mainframe architecture and middleware tools.
Batch technology from a technical development perspective.
