Our approach is to deliver the bulk of our services using our own team of qualified and experienced trades. The team includes Carpenters, General Handyman, Painters, Genal Laborer's, Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC technicians and general ground maintenance in NSW, VIC, WA, SA & ACT.
About the role
Painter | Full Time Permanant | Newcastle/Maitland Region
We are seeking a skilled
Painter
to join the Select team, the position is full time permanent.
You are required to work 40 hours per week, 2 hours per week accrue towards and rosters day off (RDO). Typically, you will start at 7 AM and finish at 3:30 PM. This will vary from time to time depending on project and client requirements.
Your primary work location will be various client sites across Newcastle/Maitland region.
Company vehicle, phone, uniform provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, patch, and repair plasterboard, rendering, and drywall.
Apply finishing coats and ensure smooth, clean, and durable finishes.
Prepare and seal surfaces before applying finishes.
Prepare surfaces (cleaning, sanding, priming) for painting, ensuring a long-lasting finish.
Apply various types of paint (oil-based, water-based, or specialty finishes) to walls, ceilings, and exterior surfaces.
Repair and touch up painted surfaces as needed.
Conduct regular property inspections and maintenance in both common areas and private residences.
Handle small repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks as needed.
Assist in the upkeep of grounds, such as basic landscaping or minor repairs to pathways and fencing.
Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure the environment remains safe for residents, staff, and contractors.
Take precautions to prevent dust and debris from affecting the health and safety of vulnerable individuals.
Conduct daily WHS audits on site using Aroflo to identify any hazards or risks.
Perform monthly vehicle inspections using Rapid Audit to ensure that company vehicles are in safe working condition.
Provide accurate and timely updates on the status of jobs in the Aroflo system, including progress, completion, and any issues encountered.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a plasterer, painter, or general handyman, particularly in commercial properties.
Previous work in aged care or retirement living settings is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of plastering, painting, and general maintenance practices.
Ability to use hand tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
Required
Construction white card required.
Covid and flu vaccination required.
Driver's license required.
Police Check WWAC & WWCC required.
