The role Reporting to the Manager, Statistical Standards and Data Quality, Statistical Services Branch Clinical Excellence Queensland you will manage the support for the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the quality and management of information within Queensland Health statistical data collections. You will be responsible for managing the development and quality improvement of clinical coding, as well as a comphenisve program of data activities with a particular focus on clinical coding. You will also be responsible for providing expert advice on new data quality inittatives, national developments and policies.
Furthermore in order to improve the quality and use of data to meet information needs, you will be required to liaise and negotiate effectively with other Departments and Health Services to successfully establish collaborative partnerships.

The successful person
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated a high level of knowledge and skills in managing the development, implementation, provision of education and support in relation to clinical coding, data definitions, standards and data quality improvement. You will also have demonstrated a high level of interpersonal skills and team leadership in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.

It is a mandatory requirement that you will have completed a Comprehensive Medical Terminology Course or Challenge Examination in Medical Terminology, as well as an Introductory ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS Clinical Coding Course (or equivalent).

The role of the Clinical Excellence Division is to drive the patient safety, quality improvement and clinical improvement agendas for the Queensland health system. As part of this division, the Statistical Standards and Strategies Unit is one of four units in the Statistical Services Branch and is responsible for establishing and monitoring corporate statistical data standards and clinical coding standards, providing leadership in information management standards and capacity building, SSB core systems development and maintenance, and developing and monitoring comprehensive programs of statistical data quality improvement.
