Job DescriptionFeature development and implementation will be achieved by collaborating with our product owners and designers to translate business requirements into functional Android app features. Work closely with our other Android and iOS engineers to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, feature parity, and consistency across the codebase. Analyse and optimise the app's performance, including load times, memory usage, and battery consumption. Monitor and address issues reported by users or QA, including crashes, performance bottlenecks, or UI/UX inconsistencies.
QualificationsProven professional experience in Android application development
Kotlin, Flow/Coroutines or RxJava, Hilt DI, Multi-module app, Compose
Mobile user interface design skills
Object-oriented design, SOLID principles and Architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, Reactive Patterns)
Solid Unit and UI Test Automation experience with JUnit/Espresso
A commitment to quality in your work
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to innovate
Strong understanding of agile development best practices including Scrum and Lean methodologies.
Git, Continuous Integration/Development, Agile Software Development, JIRA
Nice to have: Experience using AI for development, day-to-day assistance and productivity.

The Video Technology Team at Nine Digital are a high-performing group of developers, designers, and product managers building the next generation of online TV in Australia. Our users are passionate about TV, and we're passionate about creating new ways for them to connect and engage with their favourite Channel Nine shows. The Mobile Apps Team is an agile software development team with the core responsibility of building out Nine's applications for Android and iOS mobiles.
Job Responsibilities: Develop and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, ensuring high performance and responsiveness. Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend developers to translate requirements into functional and intuitive mobile applications. Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following best practices, including component reusability and state management. Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues in the application. Integrate third-party APIs and libraries, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience. Perform thorough testing of mobile applications, including unit testing, integration testing, and debugging across various devices and platforms. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to project standards.
Qualifications: Computer Science degree or equivalent experience. Advanced technical knowledge of JavaScript frameworks, React.js and TypeScript. Strong grasp of OO/functional design, refactoring and similar techniques to create modular, testable and maintainable solutions. Understanding of service-oriented architecture and RESTful web services. Sound knowledge of defensive coding practices to address common security vulnerabilities. Understanding of working in agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban. Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD). Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and test automation. Strong communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Desirable experience and skills: React Native Android and iOS development (Swift or Kotlin)

About the opportunity:
Our team is responsible for supporting customers in the "Industrial Automation" business in our Pacific Zone of Australia and New Zealand. We have an opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Software Technical Support Engineer.
Reporting into the Customer Success division, Pacific (Zone) and based in Macquarie Park NSW, the role is tasked with ensuring continued smooth operations for our customers, troubleshoot and diagnose faults in a wide range of areas across SCADA verticals and products that we support including GeoSCADA, AVEVA System Platform and AVEVA Plant SCADA.
The role also collaborates closely with other teams including pre-sales, sales, quotes and procurement within the organisation, focusing on the customer's end to end experience with Schneider Electric.
Key responsibilities:
Owning, investigating and resolving complex software issues, proposing work-a-rounds for customers
Accurate and timely documentation of activities and findings in case management system
Contribution to digital self-help materials promoting faster problem resolution for our customers while building a robust internal knowledge sharing platform for our team
Collaboration with colleagues in other support centres and departments
Focus on customer experience, contributing a successful interaction. Managing customer experience by regular and empathetic communication with customers while keeping the focus on technical resolutions
Learning every day and actively contributing to the team and our customers
About you:
To see success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate
2-4 years
of experience in Application Support within an ASX top 100 business (supporting mainstream software applications and an array of customers), including proficiency working with and understanding software architecture, software unit testing and other aspects of the SDLC.
Your personal drivers, professional confidence, and desire to work for a value-based organization with leading edge solutions will be supported by a tertiary qualification in Engineering or Computer Science and complemented by a working understating of software and automation hardware communications and setup.
Key skills and experience:
Previous experience with AVEVA System Platform and Plant SCADA or GEO SCADA will be advantageous
Ability to demonstrate understanding of windows operating system, networking concepts and security
Knowledge of general windows operating system tools and commands that help with diagnosing and troubleshooting software
Working knowledge and understanding or experience with integrating hardware and software
Quick thinking, self-motivated and inspired action is a must to maintain customer satisfaction while resolving issues satisfactorily
