About us

As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.

Purpose of role

Marine Rescue Implementation team provides program support to progress the transition to an integrated statewide marine search and rescue volunteer capability and assists QFES with planning and delivering future integrated service outcomes. The team works closely with a wide range of stakeholders including the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association and Volunteer Marine Rescue Association Queensland to highlight complex issues, explore options and provide strategic advice for the development of an integrated volunteer marine search and rescue service within the department.

You will be a key member of a professional and dedicated team which delivers strategies and tools to build a robust and sustainable model for QFES volunteers and their stakeholders and partners. You will manage and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex projects to support an integrated marine rescue service. You will have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism surrounding sensitive issues and provide direct support to the effective operations of the marine rescue implementation team and working group to deliver a new marine rescue service.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in providing frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

- Provide administrative and project support, including disseminating of information, maintaining Terms of Reference and other relevant governance documentation, including tracking of records and decisions to support business outcomes.
- Coordinate the collation of quality reports and communications to ensure a high-standard of stakeholder engagement and understanding of timeframes to meet committee and working group objectives.
- Provide secretariat support to high-level meetings and committees by ensuring agendas, recording and circulation of minutes and follow up on actions and outcomes are efficiently maintained.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders on governance and secretariat activities to resolve problems and/or escalate issues as required.
- Contribute to project deliverables and ensure compliance with governance, policy and procedures and quality protocols to successfully deliver secretariat milestones and outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation of complex documentation, including submissions, briefings, reports, board papers and other documentation as required to meet key compliance and reporting deliverables.
- Undertake research and analysis on governance and committee activities, to identify issues and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
