Veterinary Medicine Nurse - VRH DandenongFull-time / Part-timeVRH Dandenong | Experienced Medicine NurseVRH is a multi-disciplinary specialist referral and emergency hospital with departments including Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Radiology, and Anaesthesia.
We prioritize collaboration and aim for optimal patient outcomes.We have strong ties with educational institutes, hosting visiting veterinarians and students, and are committed to teaching and sharing expertise with the veterinary community.Our Medicine team comprises 5 Medics and 7 nurses.
We seek a dedicated nurse to join our cohesive, supportive team that values communication, teamwork, and exceptional care, while maintaining a positive atmosphere.
We provide high standards of care and continually seek to enhance our skills.Our nurses work a mix of hospital and procedure shifts, assist with daily consults, and handle a varied caseload, including referrals from our emergency team.
Facilities include MRI, CT, Endoscopy, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound, enabling tailored treatment plans in collaboration with all departments.This flexible position (full-time or part-time) is suited for an experienced nurse.
Transition support is available for those from other specialties or emergency backgrounds interested in internal medicine training.Key Responsibilities :Providing compassionate care to patients and clientsPlanning and scheduling daily activitiesCaring for hospitalized and post-procedure patientsPreparing and monitoring procedures and anesthesiaPreparing patients for proceduresMaintaining a clean, hygienic hospital environmentAssisting with consultations and patient handoversRequirements :Certificate IV or Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing, or equivalentMinimum 5 years' veterinary nursing experience; specialty experience preferred but training providedStrong technical nursing skills (IV placement, blood sampling, transfusions, feeding tubes, central lines, endoscopy)Knowledge of medication dosing, calculations, and administrationExcellent anesthesia and monitoring skills, willingness to learn from our teamExperience with RxWorks and Smartflow is desirableSolid general nursing knowledgeReceptive to learning and feedbackExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing situationsPositive, flexible, enthusiastic attitudeProblem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work both independently and within a teamPassion for providing exceptional animal and client careWhat We Offer :Part-time / Full-time opportunities within our Medicine TeamAbove award ratesSupportive, knowledgeable team who love their workOpportunities for professional growth and developmentAccess to continuing education including RECOVER and Stress Free PetsWork-life balance with set roster, no on-call, weekends, or public holidaysStaff discounts on veterinary services and productsJ-18808-Ljbffr
