We are seeking a Disability Support Worker in Croydon for a young customer, soon to turn 18 years of age, participating in school and the community.
Initially, the role will require extensive relationship-building skills as our customer can be difficult to engage and is very nervous. This means the hours may be minimal, to begin with, 2 hours some mornings and 2-3 hours some afternoons until the rapport is built. Ongoing there is an opportunity to attend respite and have longer hours.
An understanding of females with ASD is preferable. She loves baking, arts and crafts, animals, the outdoors, and collecting snails and other little creatures.
Minimum Requirements
Proven or lived experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar role
Preferably experience working with people with Autism
Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, a related field, or ability to obtain
Knowledge and understanding of disability support principles, policies, and practices.

Responsibilities
Providing hands-on support and care to individuals with disability
Assisting individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks.
Promoting independence and facilitating community participation.
Following personalised care plans to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and support.
Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of care provided and reporting any changes in individual's needs.
Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to guarantee a safe working environment for yourself and the people we support.
You must have or have the ability to obtain:
First Aid and CPR certification.
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Police Check
Working with Children's Check
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities, their families, and other stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with the people we support.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in challenging situations.
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
