**Position**: Casual Youth Worker
**Location**: Western Sydney Schools
**Wage**: $34.46 per hour

PCYC NSW is dedicated to creating safer communities for young people. We offer a range of programs and services aimed at empowering youth and helping them reach their full potential.

**Haka Warriors Program**:
Become an integral part of our Haka Warriors Program, A school-based program that is delivered for twenty weeks encompassing mentoring and leadership sessions with primarily Maori and Pasifika youth grounded in connection and promote positive change, unity, respect, resilience, identity and leadership. Additional teaching the young people the meaning and learning the Haka but also other traditional dance and song. Along with the values that stem from it such as resilience, identity, decision-making, fostering a strong and safe environment of holistic growth, and personal development.

**Program Facilitator**:

- You will demonstrate strong engagement with youth and families, from a variety of backgrounds with a focus particularly on Maori and Pasifika peoples
- Strong connection and understanding of Pasifika and Maori culture
- Ensures a commitment to quality and 'best practice' is always demonstrated
- Collates reporting information required
- Understand and abide by child safe polices and PCYC NSW Standard of Practices
- Must be reliable
- Drivers license essential

**Key responsibilities**:
Provide opportunities for children to connect and strengthen their cultural identity through the delivery of the Haka Warrior Programme.
- Delivery of the Haka Warrior Programs to schools in NSW
- Facilitate group mentoring sessions grounded in cultural connection, resilience, identity and leadership
- Ensuring the Haka warrior programme is aligned to the goals and aims of PCYC NSW.
- Meeting funding KPI's for program outcomes and evaluation
- Attendance as required at all PCYC events, programmes, training and activities. Including the Haka Warriors Celebration event at the end of the program
- Collaborate with schools, community groups and families
- Monitor participant progress and provide ongoing support throughout the program duration
- Attend weekly P.D and program team meetings to contribute towards program evaluation processes.

**Selection Criteria**:

- A Certificate IV in Youth Work qualification or relevant transferable experience
- Strong connection and understanding of Pasifika or Maori culture desirable
- Current and Valid working with children check and NSW police check under 6months old required
- A confident speaker who is about to create an engaging space for young people to experience the program
- Respects confidentiality and can respond to sensitive situations
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer illiterate - word, excel, Microsoft teams and outlook

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $34.46 per hour

- Afternoon shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- On call

Work Location: In person
