Armstrong Barbecue and Smashville are two of Geelong's most distinctive dining destinations, each with its own unique identity. Armstrong Barbecue brings authentic Central Texas-style smoked meats to life, while Smashville delivers cracking smash burgers and Nashville hot chicken with attitude. Together with our roaming food truck, we're redefining the Geelong region's casual dining scene. Now, we're seeking a storyteller to amplify our digital presence.
Position Overview
We need a creative powerhouse to drive our digital narrative across both brands. This role fuses content creation, videography, and social media strategy into one dynamic position. You'll be capturing everything from the mesmerising slow-smoking process at Armstrong to the sizzle of burgers hitting the hotplate at Smashville.
Key ResponsibilitiesContent Creation & Videography
- Document the art of barbecue, from early morning pit lighting to perfect bark formation
- Capture the controlled chaos of Smashville's kitchen during peak service
- Create mouth-watering food content that stops thumbs from scrolling
- Produce short-form video content that showcases our personalities across platforms
- Direct and edit longer promotional pieces that tell our brands' stories
- Shoot professional food photography that makes viewers hungry
- Craft compelling copy that matches each brand's distinct personality
Social Media Magic
- Build and execute platform-specific strategies for both restaurants and the food truck
- Keep our community engaged with daily content that matters
- Guide food truck followers to our latest spots around the region
- Handle customer feedback with professionalism and personality
- Turn data into actionable insights through social media analytics
- Build relationships with local food influencers
- Design and implement paid campaigns that deliver results
Brand Guardianship
- Maintain the distinct voices of Armstrong Barbecue and Smashville
- Plan content around menu drops, events, and seasonal specials
- Create campaigns that highlight our signature dishes
- Work alongside our team to amplify events and collaborations
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of proven content creation and social experience
- A portfolio that shows your video production prowess
- Sharp photography skills and an eye for composition
- Mastery of video editing software
- Experience with social media management platforms
- Strong writing skills and adaptable voice
- Deep understanding of what works on social media
Nice-to-Haves
- Previous hospitality industry experience
- Social media advertising expertise
- Adobe Creative Suite skills
- Basic web development knowledge
