The role holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing and handing over to service security solutions based on BT's security portfolio technologies for global customers have been designed, built and deployed with the appropriate level of security. To make this happen, the job holder has the authority to engage other people within the unit or via matrix management as appropriate and assume the technical lead design role for the specific project.

**You'll have the following responsibilities**

The Security Designer is responsible for implementing security solutions in line with defined standards and processes within agreed timeframes and may also be asked to analyse and scope a migration plan based on client requirements.
- Maintain a very good understanding of key Security products (e.g. Next Generation Firewalls, Cloud Proxy solutions) and become a Subject matter Expert in one or two technologies / vendor solutions.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives or assigned work packages.
- Handover and gain signoff to the Technical Manager / implementation and/or Operational teams for on-going support.
- Provide technical assistance when required for solution implementation and fault diagnostics.
- Participate in professional communities and knowledge sharing to colleagues and internal teams.
- Be prepared to manage a team (includes design and implementation).
- Work within a virtual team and typically expect to be working on more than one project.
- Work within short timescales. Flexibility is essential in terms of -working hours and location. This includes attending on-site location.
- Keep relevant certifications up to date, attending BT product and technology seminars and briefings.
- Maintains a reputation for quality and delivery of their expertise to the business.
- Support Service governance for Security gateways.
- Deliver L3 support for incidents and service requests.
- Lead and support the maintenance activities of the estate/inventory for security elements.
- Lead and support the implementation activities (i.e. upgrades, new deployments, new services and software blades) and support project changes.
- Lead and support miscellaneous activities such as network diagram creation and maintenance, Customer IT managed Security changes and due diligence.

**Qualifications**
- Excellent knowledge of products with hands on experience and technical knowledge for one or more of the following: Security Gateways (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, plus appropriate Managers
- Maintain an excellent knowledge of key security technologies and products, such as, Cloud Security Proxies (PA Prisma, Zscaler or other Security Solutions (IDS/IPS, VPN, Remote Access solutions).
- Keep relevant certifications up to date, attending BT product and technology seminars and briefings.
- Hold and maintain an adequate security clearance in accordance with the requirements of the role (current minimum standard is SC).
- Will have achieved or be willing to gain one or more vendor certifications to support their role as an SME (such as a CCSE, PCNSE, NSE4, CCNP Security, ZCCP-IA, F5-CTS, FSCE, Azure, AWS) and industry certifications such as CISSP.

You'll have the following skills & experience

**Experience**:
- Practical working knowledge of security technologies and a track record of designing and deploying network security solutions.
- Strong understanding of networks and network security requirements in a customer physical or cloud environment.
- Experience of network routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP would be beneficial.

MUST be willing to work flexibly as out of hours working will be required for transition and transformation change windows.

**Key Skills**
- Excellent written and presentation skills to be able to document and articulate designs and solutions to stakeholders.
- Good customer relationship skills, able to build and maintain relationships with the most senior levels, both externally and internally.
- Agile worker and MUST be willing to work in a BT location and / or on-site at the customer's location if required.
- Work covering Australia/NZ working hours.
- Self-motivated and require little management.
- Ability to work in a process intensive and complex environment.
- MUST be able to work in a team environment.
