2004 saw the establishment of Carrum Downs Secondary College with its inaugural group of students graduating year 12 in 2009. Situated in a vibrant and rapidly growing community 42km southeast of Melbourne, the College currently has an enrolment of 880 students with 95 teaching and education support staff.
CDSC fosters a supportive learning environment where every young person is empowered to grow as responsible and creative members of our community, valuing Respect, Effort and Integrity.
Staff and Students operate in one of four houses from Year 7 -12, providing a framework for the development of positive relationships to optimise learning outcomes, wellbeing and pathways. Students are encouraged to have a voice and identity, and the College boasts an extensive Student Leadership Program.
Our dynamic instructional model focuses on providing a stimulated learning environment for all students and is supported by the Targeted Teaching Program in English and Maths which allows students to access learning at their point of need.
CDSC has successfully implemented Professional Learning Communities which has seen a focus on teams using data to drive teacher learning and student growth in a well-supported communal atmosphere.

**Selection Criteria**:
- Demonstrated understanding of Vocational Education and Training (VET), VCAL and VCE pathways. This includes experience working collaboratively within the careers networks.
- Demonstrated understanding of current Careers software including Work Expo, VTAC and online careers resources.
- Demonstrated capacity working as part of a team building positive relationships with key stakeholders within the college, across the education sector and the wider community.
- Demonstrated capacity working with young people and communities providing advice and support on matters relating to careers and educational pathways together with current knowledge of agencies, networks and community services related to careers and pathways programs.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Self-motivation and initiative are essential
- Formal qualifications in Careers Counselling and Pathways is preferred
**Role**:
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with mínimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.
This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered.
