**What you'll do**
The Engineering Program Manager reports to the AU Engineering Manager and will plan and implement the AU Engineering Program of works.
The primary objective of the Engineering Program Manager is two fold:
- to ensure the successful completion of all engineering programs for internal or external business, and
- to handle the performance of specific Viasat Partners that have a major contribution to the operation and support of the Viasat APAC ground system.
The Engineering Program Manager will act as a key point of contact into the GSN APAC Engineering team to plan and implement tasks, investigate and resolve business priorities, to integrate with the larger Viasat engineering and development organization, and to lead the execution of the engineering program. The delivery methodology is to be aligned with Viasat global engineering development processes.
The role will require an engineering and operations mentality, with a detailed approach to planning, measuring, analysing, handling major incident issues, and partner performance. This will include day to day interaction with external and internal stakeholders. This role will work locally in Australia and will form part of the AU Engineering team.
**The day-to-day**
- Cross team, cross vertical, and cross domain coordination
- Product roadmap creation for vertical and assisting Product Owners with product roadmaps
- Lead product delivery dates negotiated by platform lead with Product Owners and other team members
- Collaborate with Product Owners to lead epics for each product team in the GID Jira project
- Backlog grooming with product owners
- Create, maintain and report on team metrics, scrum execution, and KPIs for improvement and transparency
- Assist Product Owners in organizing and facilitating processes such as RFI, RFP, and RFQ activities with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Plan, lead, organize, and motivate product teams
- Work as a liaison between scrum teams to identify and resolve dependencies
- Interface and facilitate coordination cross-team and cross-domain for issues and dependencies
- Coach members of engineering teams on time and planning optimization
- Represent the team in external management tracking as needed
- Provide continuous and consistent project status for global and regional team activities
- Ability to represent the team in project scoping, staffing, and scheduling negotiations
- Raise awareness with management and provide solutions for potential shortages and mitigations in all program resources
- Act as the operations lead for key external partners for networks in Australia:
- Act as the main point of contact for critical issues, governance, and reporting for Viasat Partners.
- Review contracted performance data from Viasat Partners and from Viasat reporting systems.
- Analyse and assess performance of Viasat Partners and represent Viasat's assessment of Viasat Partner performance at governance and stake holder reviews.
- Analyse, assess and review SLA performance and calculate service credits as per contractual agreements.
- Analyse and assess Viasat Partner support categorisation and identify ways in which Viasat Partners can improve system and service performance.
- Provide Viasat Partner contract advice to Viasat team members.
- Represent Viasat commercial and contractual position in issue and dispute resolution discussions with Viasat Partners.
- Escalate key issues and incidents to Viasat Partners. Ensure the right level of focus and attention is provided by Viasat Partners.
- Provide regular and timely updates to the Viasat team during major incidents where Viasat Partners are involved.
- Represent Viasat operational needs with Viasat Partners.
- Directly handle a small team of staff working on field services activities.
- Participate and contribute to engineering governance forums.
**What you'll need**
- Five plus years of demonstrated ability in telecommunications engineering, design or support roles.
- Strong stakeholder and partner relationship skills. Experience acting as a point of contact for key relationships.
- Experience handling tier one telecommunications vendors and service providers in complex commercial environments.
- Good communicator able to work effectively with the multi-discipline Viasat teams.
- Two plus years of people management experience. Strong team management skills.
- Good and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
