We are looking for motivated person to join an energetic team of regulatory supervisors.
About the team
The Clearing and Settlement Supervision Section is part of the RBA's Payments Policy Department and is responsible for the regulatory supervision of entities that provide critical financial market infrastructure underpinning the majority of financial market transactions in Australia.
The Payments Policy Department is responsible for the RBA's payments system policy, regulatory and oversight functions. We help the RBA meet its objectives of promoting competition and efficiency, improving the safety and resilience, of the payments system and safeguarding the stability of Australia's financial system.
About the role
You will be responsible for the supervision and risk assessment of licensed clearing and settlement facilities. Your role could include (but is not limited to):- Formulating and communicating supervisory recommendations to the RBA's leadership team, the RBA's Payments System Board and supervised entities- Undertaking assessments of the supervised entities against their regulatory obligations- Direct supervisory engagement with the supervised entities- Maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of key emerging risks that may impact the financial system- Independently conduct reporting and data analysis to support recommendations and build an awareness of risk exposures at supervised entities and across the financial system- Contribute to and prepare papers for relevant Board and Committee meetings- Contribute to the development and operationalisation of a crisis management response framework
About you
To be successful you should have:
- Strong understanding of Australian financial markets, including equity and interest rate derivatives markets- Experience with post-trade/financial market infrastructures and regulation; or a relevant tertiary qualification in finance, risk or a related discipline- Excellent critical thinking skills to assess information, identify patterns and develop supervisory responses on complex supervisory issues- Strong data and technical analysis capabilities to understand financial models and identify risks. Familiarity with R would be an advantage- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary supervisory team and with other supervisory agencies- The ability to have difficult conversations with stakeholders where you see issues, both to ask questions and communicate regulatory expectations to the supervised entities- Effectively communicate issues related to financial risk management to less technical stakeholders, such as through presentations and papers- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including an ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing priorities
