An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Victorian Environmental Water Holder (VEWH) as an Environmental Water Coordinator.

The VEWH is an independent statutory body responsible for managing Victoria's environmental water entitlements, in cooperation with program partners, to improve the environmental health of rivers and wetlands.
The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring Victoria's environmental water entitlements are managed effectively to improve the condition of rivers, wetlands, and floodplains.
This role includes contributing to water planning and reporting processes, program development, liaising with officers of key delivery partners, participating in community consultation, and supporting decision-making by the Commission and Executive Management team.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing direction and contributing to planning for the use of Water Holdings, including assessing seasonal watering proposals and developing seasonal watering plans and statements to prioritize watering actions across the state.
Managing Water Holdings by assessing water use, trade, and carryover options, and contributing to the development of delivery plans, operating arrangements, and metering plans.
Reporting on Water Holdings by overseeing water accounting processes and supporting ecological monitoring projects to track environmental water use and outcomes.
Liaising effectively with officers of key delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective environmental water delivery.
Participating in community consultation processes, including attending environmental water advisory group meetings.
Supporting the development of the environmental water program through strategic projects led by VEWH or policy reform projects led by DEECA or other partners.
Qualifications and expertise:
An appropriate tertiary degree in science, engineering, natural resource management, or a related field, or equivalent experience or accreditation.
Knowledge or experience of the water allocation framework, environmental flows management, catchment management, and water ecology in Victoria is desirable.
A Victorian Driver's Licence is required.
This is a fixed-term position available until 31 December 2026.
The work location is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
