SME is seeking a seasoned Geologist to lead, mentor and grow our team in Charlotte. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading projects, developing new business and managing teams as a technical resource.
Our company has a history of delivering innovative geotechnical, civil, environmental and construction material testing services for over 50 years. We have grown into a trusted partner for clients across various industries, including transportation, energy, water, waste management, education, government, commercial, industrial and more.
As a leader, you will provide guidance, advice and in-house training to support the professional development and growth of our team members. You will also lead efforts to bring in new business, expanding our impact. Your work will make a real difference by promoting sustainable resource management and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of professional geologists
Develop and implement project plans and budgets
Prepare detailed design recommendations for complex or unusual conditions
Provide counsel, advice and in-house training to individual staff
Identify training needs and develop training programs
Cultivate client relationships and assist in identifying, pursuing and securing new project opportunities
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related technical field
Minimum of 8 years of Geology experience
Professional Geologist (PG) license
Effective communication skills (speaking, reading and writing) using the English language
What to Expect:
Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
