**About the role**
The Maintenance and Projects team based in
**Stafford, Brisbane**, seeks a
**3rd - 4th year Apprentice Carpenter** who is already working towards a carpentry apprenticeship and is willing and able to turn their hand to other maintenance tasks found in a large analytical laboratory.

This
**Full-Time** position offers an exciting balance of maintenance work onsite in Brisbane, as well as maintenance and new project work including upgrades to existing facilities and the establishment of new facilities within our Australian and International laboratories.

The successful applicant will be given on-the-job training in all aspects of routine maintenance of ALS equipment to ensure they fully understand the task and always comply with ALS HSE standards.

This role allows the employee to meet the requirements for a carpentry apprenticeship for multiple sites whilst also expanding their skill base into the maintenance and/or repairs of equipment on site.

**The essentials**
- 3rd or 4th year apprentices may apply
- Mechanical and logical aptitude
- A very high regard for safety at all times
- A high level of communication, as any delays with equipment downtimes must be communicated promptly to the Laboratory Manager.
- Current driver's licence (A class) manual
- Likes to work on various projects that don't just include carpentry.
- Has the knowledge and experience in other trades outside their own (ie. fitting, welding, plumbing) would be at a definite advantage.
- The ability and desire to learn other trade skills
- Flexibility and ability to travel both nationally and internationally for extended periods on a regular basis
- The ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision, whilst being committed to the work of a team
- Reliable, punctual and an excellent work ethic
- Proven ability to handle a diverse workload
