**About the Department**

The Department of Education provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

**About the Division**

The Communications Division collaborates with key stakeholders to strategically shape and deliver communication and community engagement opportunities.

The Division is responsible for the delivery of communications on behalf of the department to support and improve Victoria's education.

The partnership allows the Division to support the Victorian Government priorities in early childhood development, and school education. This includes engaging with the Department's workforce, supporting the implementation of policies and reforms, protecting, and strengthening the reputation of our education and providing communications support and advice to the Victorian Government.

**About the role**

An exciting opportunity exists for an ongoing full-time VPS4 Portfolio Communications Adviser to join the Portfolio Communications Internal Communications team. The role is a critical function in our strategic communications team, helping develop, deliver and evaluate communications plans and activities across a broad range of corporate programs and initiatives. The Communications Adviser supports the delivery of best-practice and evidence-based communications to bring the Education State narrative to our staff.

This is an important and varied role specifically responsible for:

- assisting in coordinating, developing and evaluating communication strategies
- assisting in managing key client relationships across the department
- assisting in the delivery of key staff events
- providing administrative support to the team as required

The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Division's work. Some ad hoc after-hours work may be required.

**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**

Relevant tertiary qualification in communications. Strategic communications experience.
