**Team and Opportunity**
Vanguard's Global Business & Corporate Audit Services team has an exciting opportunity for an Engagement Manager specializing in investments in our Melbourne, Australia office. This position will focus heavily on Vanguard's investment groups and their portfolio management and trading processes. In this role, you will conduct and coordinate risk-based audit and consulting engagements to evaluate management's internal controls and influence senior levels of management to take action to improve the control environment. You will collaborate with stakeholder groups across aligned investment divisions and be instrumental in executing the audit coverage strategy across a breadth of portfolio management, trading and risk management areas. You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with audit and business leaders and build your knowledge of key business areas and operations.

**In this role you will**:
1. Oversees the delivery of the audit and consulting engagements. Ensures the timely delivery of the highest quality work and value-add recommendations. Assesses the adequacy of the control environment, identifies control gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement based on relevant knowledge and experience.
2. Assists in developing and communicating the objectives of an engagement to audit team, department management, and investment management. Outlines engagement scope, determines level of associated risk and analyzes data to determine underlying root causes. Challenges established processes and controls to ensure they are adequate to mitigate risk. Performs work and analysis on complex investment areas.
3. Communicates the status and results of assigned work to various levels of management. Influences management to act on recommendations to strengthen the control environment and make process improvements. Provides opinion on audit and consulting findings, ratings and recommendations to management.
4. Communicates expectations to team and provides meaningful feedback to help develop team members by identifying and communicating areas for improvement in a timely manner.
5. Establishes and maintains relationships with investment management across aligned division and risk partners.
6. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
**What it takes**:
- Minimum of five years related work experience. Audit, risk, or controls experience in financial services, banking, superannuation, or related industry is preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; CIA, CFA, or other financial certification preferred.
- An understanding or exposure to portfolio management and trading processes, including trade execution and trade support.
- Ability to work in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment with strong inherent project execution skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communications, willingness to assist in areas outside of direct assignments when necessary, and commitment to self-improvement and completion of team objectives.
- Excellent relationship skills and client focused mindset.
