Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Vanguard Full time $180,000 - $250,000 per year

About Vanguard

More than 45 years ago, John C. Bogle had a vision to start an investment company that did things differently. A company with no external shareholders. Where all the profits were invested back into the business and used to lower costs. Evidently, it was as bold as it was brilliant. To this day, Vanguard Group still has no external shareholders. That means no share prices to protect, and no profits to generate for outside owners.

Today, Vanguard is one of the world's largest investment management companies, serving more than 50 million investors worldwide. For more than 25 years Vanguard Australia has been supporting individual investors, financial advisers, and superannuation members to achieve their long-term financial goals.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Engagement Manager to join our Business & Corporate Audit Services (BCAS) team. This is a high-visibility role where you'll lead risk-based audit engagements, evaluate internal controls, and influence senior leadership to strengthen the control environment.

You'll collaborate across divisions, shape audit strategy for key risk topics, and serve as a trusted advisor on governance, risk, and control matters. If you thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and bring strong leadership, critical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills—this could be your next big move.

What You'll Do

Strategic Audit Leadership

  • Lead multiple audit engagements, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and execute audit strategies aligned to key risk areas across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Support annual and ongoing risk assessments and contribute to the development of the audit and consulting plan.

Governance, Risk & Control Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, offering expertise on governance, risk, and control.
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to adopt recommendations that enhance operational resilience.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage relationships across business divisions and risk partners.
  • Communicate audit objectives, progress, and outcomes clearly to all levels of management.
  • Present findings and industry insights to senior leaders with confidence and clarity.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide coaching and feedback to audit team members, fostering growth and excellence.
  • Review work and set clear expectations to ensure consistent quality and alignment with strategic goals.

Continuous Improvement & Special Projects

  • Participate in enterprise-wide initiatives and special projects.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes and industry trends to inform audit practices.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., MBA, CPA, CIA, ACAMS) is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in audit, risk, or controls— within the Australian financial services industry.
  • Deep understanding of risk management, banking, and/or asset management, including relevant regulatory frameworks.
