**Role Purpose**
An excellent opportunity to join a growing business with a focus on providing critical services to the NSW community across a large volume of sites and assets. With a renewed focus on the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of their people, a created role has been established for an experienced Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing. The role will see you take ownership of the function and build your team within a diverse environment that includes front line community workers, real estate, property management, asset management, general maintenance and construction.

Reporting into the COO, this is a critical hire for the business in establishing a successful HSW framework and strategy to enable a positive safety culture across the organisation. Your focus will be around establishing and implementing the Safety & Wellbeing frameworks, systems and overall strategy by building the new function in collaboration with the existing goals and outlining a new long term strategy.

In addition, you will:

- Drive the implementation of the integrated health, safety and wellbeing strategy through a communication plan including strategy launch, refresh of intranet safety page and creating accessible resources and tools for all.
- Partner with the ELT, Heads of and frontline people leaders to ensure effective risk mitigation and proactive risk prevention
- Develop effective systems, frameworks, programs and initiatives for the control of workplace risk and continued improvement of health, safety and wellbeing performance beyond compliance.
- Champion mental health and wellbeing through identifying psychosocial risks, reviewing workplace people issues/grievances, taking proactive actions to mitigate risks and prevent harm
- Produce quality evidence-based reporting for Board committees (Safety & Sustainability Committee, People & Culture Committee), and the ELT to inform sound decision-making.
- Drive improved leader capability at ELT and frontline through creating tools and frameworks to assist in managing employee health.
- Audit existing wellbeing programs and develop/refresh the suite of current offerings with an evidence-based lens
- Provide strategic safety, health and wellbeing advice to the ELT, and the Board
- Oversee Return to Work program that covers all aspects of health and recovery at work

As a natural people leader, you will have the ability to quickly establish credibility and possess the ability to influence colleagues effectively.

Key experience required:

- Relevant tertiary / professional qualifications in Health and Safety, Risk Management, Learning and Development, or a related field
- Passion to build a department and cohesive function and proven background in developing and delivering HSW strategy
- Fluency in health and safety legislation around physical and psychosocial safety and wellbeing
- Proven capacity to partner strategically with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to gain commitment to change, build capability and act as a trusted advisor in OHS.
