The Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) role supports the faculties and divisions in relation to the delivery of the University's strategic aims in defence and security and contributes to the achievement of a compliance-aware and security-aware culture. This role is focused on research and industry engagement compliance; however, the role will also work closely with the leadership in Faculties and other Divisions to support a whole-of-University approach. The role will support the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to establish essential policies, training programs, risk management frameworks and performance monitoring to ensure the University meets the security standards required for broad Government and Defence collaborative activities at all levels of the University.
This role is located within the Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) at the University of Adelaide - reporting directly to the CSO. The DCSO may be required to undertake the role of Acting CSO.
The DCSO is expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Senior Defence and National Security Advisor, the University Chief Information Security Officer, and the Defence and Security Institute.
**To be successful you will need**:
- Demonstrated success in a position requiring leadership and management at a senior level.
- Ability to represent effectively the University nationally and internationally, especially with government, business and the wider-community.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory policies, principles and guidelines and provide strategic advice.
- Demonstrated reliability in dealing with confidential and/or highly sensitive matters.
**Desirable experience**
- Positive track record of engaging with Defence.
- Strong understanding of the University's systems, policies, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of the University Foreign Interference Taskforce (UFIT) Guidelines to Counter Foreign Interference in the Australian University Sector (the Guidelines).
