**About the Opportunity**:
The Modelling & Analytics Specialist is responsible for providing modelling and analytical support for the physical trading, forward trading, retail, renewable offtake and gas resource functions of the Customer & Energy Markets team. Integral to this role will be the development of code-based quantitative systems, tools and models to assist in tracking, forecasting and optimising portfolio gross margin.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity with the flexibility to work from our Brisbane office or from home.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role you must have:

- Degree qualified in an area such as computer science, software engineering, mathematics, statistics or a quantitative discipline with strong programming component.
- Professional experience in Python programming with strong focus in data analytics and optimisation, and proven ability to write and review code in line with industry best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in creating insightful visualisations and dashboards with PowerBI, and sourcing data using SQL.
- Proficiency in managing software development with Azure DevOps/Git repos will be highly advantageous.
- Deep knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM), east coast gas market and forward/futures contract markets will be highly desirable.
- Excellent collaboration and soft skills, with the ability to work effectively with key stakeholders across the business and communicate complex concepts in simple terms.
- Ability to assist with fostering a culture of best practice programming, modelling governance and documentation.
- Ability to find innovative and simple solutions to complex challenges.
- Ability to work autonomously while demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
- Other desirable technical skills and experience include NEM modelling/simulation (preferably with PLEXOS); demand analysis and forecasting; bids analysis; network constraints analysis; familiarity with AEMO MMS data models; and machine learning.
