**About the role**

Reporting to the Ports and Logistics Manager the Rail Manager will be responsible for financial and operations rail modelling, scheduling, rostering, direction to TOP staff, and outcomes, oversight and direction for all rail service operators and stakeholders including strong reporting to all key stakeholders.
- Analytical, technical, diagnosis, strategy and financial outcomes for the rail part of the business
- Provide clear and meaningful direction to the TOP Line run operators, your direct reports, and recommendations to the EGM for consideration consistently via direct communication and formal weekly reporting
- Ensure TOP staff are adequately instructed and follow agreed incident directive documents (TARP's) and manage after hour incidents according to these directions
- Ensure Rail business is run and maintained according to budget
- Ensure delegated authority and handover plan is in place when not available or on annual or unplanned leave
- Fully accountable for the administration, operations and financial outcomes of the rail business
- Fully accountable for all rail record keeping
- Accountable for all INX events being reported and closed out in a timely fashion
- Preparation of an End of Month (EOM) report for senior management to review

**What you'll bring to the team**
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior management position in a rail based role
- Extensive experience in a rail haulage operations environment
- Knowledge of HSEQT and rail legislative requirements
- Demonstrated experience successfully performing a leadership role, building business relationships and coordinating multiple trade disciplines
- Experience with financial cost controlling and management of complicated rail linehaul budget preparations and monitoring
- Extensive experience managing Rail Suppliers and contractors
- Maintenance and operational capabilities of various rail and ancillary plant and equipment
