**Lifestyle Activities Coordinator - Shoalhaven/Illawarra - Minimum 30 hours per week**

We are BCR Communities - a not-for-profit community organisation serving communities within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven for over 30 years (formerly Bay & Basin Community Resources).

As a Lifestyle Activities Coordinator, you will be using your experience, imagination, interpersonal and organisational skills to create and facilitate a program of fun and exciting activities within our centres, out in the community and virtually online. You will continue and develop programs that align to participants' interests, abilities and individual goals.

This is work with meaning. You will be ending each work day knowing that you have made a real difference in the lives of the people you support as well as their carers and families.

Working a minimum of 30 hours per week and up to full time you will split your time between Sanctuary Point and various community venues and settings across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven in the delivery of leisure, social and respite group activities.

**Key responsibilities**:

- **Plan a stimulating and varied monthly calendar of programs and activities in collaboration with relevant BCR staff, volunteers and external parties**:

- Develop groups and programs around the needs, abilities, and interests of our participants in accordance with the principles of person centeredness, wellness and reablement
- **Lead and encourage participants to join in meaningful activities, maintain their independence, exercise choice, and lead as full and as active life as possible.**
- Evaluate existing programs and research new ideas for programs and activities, including building online options, taking into consideration participants' ideas and suggestions
- **Promote programs and activities to existing and potential participants to build interest and grow attendance to meet targeted participation numbers**:

- Coordinate program logistics including venue bookings, online offerings like Zoom, transport arrangements, menu planning and food ordering, WHS risk assessments, and activities supplies and equipment**What do you need to be successful?**
- **You need to demonstrate that you are enthusiastic, positive and proactive**:

- Relevant qualifications in lifestyle, leisure, diversional therapy, aged care, disability or other relevant experience / qualification
- **Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering activities that are active and engaging, preferably within an aged care or disability support setting**
- Sound understanding or knowledge in areas of dementia support, wellness and reablement, and person centred practice
- **Ability to develop programs that meet individual interest, choice and goals with associated evaluation and feedback processes**:

- Knowledge of Care Sector and Quality Standards
- **Ability to support and supervise volunteers as part of a team**:

- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- **Proven time management and organisational skills**:

- Current Drivers Licence (LR desirable but minimum full C Class) and be comfortable and competent to drive a commuter passenger van
- **First Aid Certificate or be willing to complete as part of the recruitment process**:

- **Competence in assisting clients with medication would be desirable**:

- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 including at least one booster

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the SCHADS Award 2010. Grade and year to be negotiated in line with qualifications and industry experience. Due to the inherent requirements of the role you will be required to undertake a NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening, National Criminal History Record Check and a pre-employment functional assessment.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: From $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
