Key Accountabilities
Assist with the development of new optical subsystems, primarily electro-optic sensors for ground-to-space applications, including optical design, component specification, assembly, optical alignment, and optimisation.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (electronics, software, mechanical) and communicate system requirements effectively.
Contribute to the instrumentation of cutting-edge opto-electronics subsystems.
Innovate by combining novel technologies or concepts to support the development of EOS IP.
Support engineering teams and communicate activity and progress to discipline managers and VPs.
Undertake and document investigative experiments to inform research activities.
EOS Space Systems is a developer of laser and electro-optics technology and systems integration, primarily focusing on space domain awareness systems and custom observatories in Australia and internationally. The company develops a wide range of opto-electronic systems, including advanced optical ground stations with optical telescopes, electronic control, and instrumentation subsystems.
The Optical Engineer within the EOS Space Systems R&D team will be responsible for optical design, assembly, alignment, testing, and maintenance of optical systems.
Essential Experience
Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 2 years' experience with optical design or optical instrumentation
Experience with the alignment and operation of complex optical systems
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance
