The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) moves and connects people, places, goods and services safely, efficiently and effectively across Queensland. The department plans, manages and delivers Queensland's transport environment to achieve sustainable transport solutions for road, rail, air and sea to create a single integrated transport network accessible to everyone.
The Chief People and Culture Officer is accountable for providing vision, leadership and strategy to the Human Resources Branch. You will leverage opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate services. In addition, you will embrace innovation in the organisation and contribute to the development of a performance culture that facilitates the achievement of key business outcomes for TMR and the Queensland Government.
The position works in partnership with all business areas, balancing innovation, resource capacity & capability with analytical thinking and good governance to meet current and future workforce needs. you will provide independent, authoritative and confidential advice to the Director-General, Deputy Directors-General and General Managers, as well as a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will drive a culture of innovation, agility and customer service excellence during a time of change and opportunity. Specific accountabilities include:
Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to deliver high quality corporate human resource services that deliver outcomes for TMR and are aligned with the whole-of-government direction.
Contribute to the development of a culture which fosters collaboration, evidence-based decision making and accountability for performance which is consistent with the values and priorities of TMR.
Drive the performance of the Branch to shape its long-term strategic direction, establish operational plans, manage resources (people, financial, physical and technological) and achieve performance objectives.
Manage the industrial relations framework and represent the Department in enterprise bargaining negotiations.
Build a high-performing and customer-focussed workforce characterised by teamwork, open discussion, strong morale and a focus on results.
Promote the Department's strategic workplace health and safety direction and safety culture.
Maintaining appropriate monitoring and reporting protocols which accurately identify the performance of each Unit within the Branch to ensure that service delivery and budgetary performance are aligned with Divisional objectives.
The position requires an experienced professional who will take personal responsibility for serving the government of the day and meeting the needs of the people and communities of Queensland.
