The South Australian Potato Company is currently seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Operator to carry out activities related to the production of high-quality potatoes and the harvesting of crops, including general cereal crops.
The candidate will be responsible for operating harvesters and tractors, preparing and positioning the plant for operation, and performing other farm-related activities such as managing centre pivot irrigators, fertilizing, spraying, and general farming tasks.
The role involves working at various farm locations, including Peebinga and Parilla in the Mallee region of SA.
Key Responsibilities
Operating mobile plant, including preparation and positioning.
Operating agricultural machinery such as tractors, implements, and self-propelled equipment.
Adjusting speed, height, and depth of implements.
Servicing and performing minor repairs on plant equipment.
Maintaining activity records.
Operating centre pivot irrigation systems.
Operating harvesters and tractors.
Performing general farm maintenance.
Participating in other farm activities as required.
Availability for weekend work and night harvesting on a rotational basis with the Farm Manager.
Ideal Candidate Attributes and Experience
Experience in potato production and harvesting is highly regarded.
Knowledge of cereal and cover crops.
Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude.
Experience in managing staff is advantageous.
Good communication, computer, and reporting skills.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.
Accommodation can also be arranged as part of the package.
