Deputy Head

Are you ready to lead a dynamic team that will play a pivotal role in transforming risk management at the Reserve Bank of Australia?

We are seeking a visionary Deputy Head - Strategy & Operations, Risk & Compliance, to join us in a strategic Line 2 role, overseeing the uplift and adoption of our risk management framework in business areas across the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, this newly created role is designed to enhance our frameworks and policies to support the efficient realisation of our corporate strategy; to respond to our ever-evolving risk landscape; and to enable effective oversight and management of our key risks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of senior Line 2 risk specialists, including experts in risk governance, frameworks, and assurance to enhance our risk management strategy, policies, processes and supporting risk management system.- Enable Business Strategy: Drive continual improvement of the Reserve Bank's Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), metrics and tolerances. Align our enterprise risk library. Support our business areas to leverage the RAS to realise business outcomes.- Business support: Work with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Deputy Head Business Oversight to ensure the consistent adoption of the risk management framework supported by sufficient capacity and capability in the business areas and CRO team.- Monitoring and reporting: Work with the business areas to enhance data, dashboards, and broader reporting to ensure timely, accurate, risk-based decision making.- Risk Culture: Foster a strong risk culture across the RBA, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.- Collaboration: Work closely with business areas to ensure alignment of risk management strategies with RBA goals.- Innovation: Drive innovation in risk management processes and our supporting enterprise risk management system, leveraging the latest industry trends and technologies.

Experience Required:
- In-depth knowledge of various risk governance, frameworks and policies. Broad understanding of risk classes, including technology, cyber, financial, model, resilience, and people risks.- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.- Extensive experience in an executive/director risk management role, preferably within a financial institution, professional services, or regulatory body.- Experience in leading during a risk transformation, ideally within a financial institution.- Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.- Deep expertise in risk management and practices, with the ability to navigate complex risk landscapes.- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
