ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is a hands-on, varied role leading a diverse mix of residential and commercial projects across Australia. As a boutique studio, our work is dynamic and wide-ranging, offering the opportunity to be deeply involved in every stage of the design process.
The role is fast-paced and ever-evolving — no two days are the same — bringing a variety of design challenges and experiences.
It involves managing projects independently while working closely with the Principal, as well as engaging directly with clients, makers, suppliers, and consultants.
From concept to completion, the position requires oversight of all aspects of project delivery, ensuring every detail reflects the studio's vision and values.
WHO WE SEEK
We are seeking a designer with strong creative alignment to our aesthetic — someone who can work confidently within the language of the studio, bringing refinement and precision to every project.
Our ideal candidate is
fabulous (this is non-negotiable)
with taste and confidence, to represent the studio at the highest level.
They are detail-oriented, with exceptional documentation skills and construction/compliance knowledge. They are a natural communicator with a positive personality who builds strong relationships with clients and collaborators. Proactive and solutions-focused, they anticipate challenges and navigate them with creativity and composure. Experience delivering residential and commercial projects end-to-end is a must, along with the ability to manage complex demands independently.
EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
Demonstratable end-to-end project delivery experience across both residential and commercial sectors, working in a firm of similar calibre
Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with clients, makers, and suppliers
Ability to design within the studio's aesthetic, under the creative direction of the Principal
A refined sense of spatial planning and attention to detail
A self-starter with a proactive mindset — someone who can anticipate needs, solve problems, and find work for idle hands
A "can-do" attitude and collaborative spirit
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Exceptional documentation skills are paramount
, with a strong understanding of regulatory submissions and consultant coordination
Autocad proficiency preferred
, though experience with other documentation platforms will be considered for the right applicant
Programa, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop experience desirable but not essential
Ability to anticipate challenges and creatively problem-solve through technical execution
