**How will I help?**

The **Principal **Infrastructure Technical Lead
- Windows **is an Acting as a point of escalation within the Windows Level 3 Team providing technical directions on managing the existing Windows Infrastructure and environments to its optimum, while also addressing risks and exceptions, helping direct the Windows L3 team with regular update plans for components of our Infrastructure to address Vulnerabilities and Security Updates

The role will include following responsibilities and is not limited to
- Familiarise themselves with full Windows Estate, across HCS, including IBM, OPC, Cloud, Legacy environments.
- SME to be point of contact for all Wintel systems for customers, infra teams and vendors.
- Take ownership and engage to correct teams where required and drive to resolution.
- Providing guidance and support to all supporting run partners for Windows Estate.
- Produce detailed analysis helping the run partner improve.
- Document processes\procedures and standards for the run partner to adhere to.
- Review others' system designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.
- Ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality, security, and systems management requirements.
- Maintains awareness of opportunities provided by new technology to address challenges or to enable new ways of working. Contribute to briefings and presentations about their relevance and potential value to the organisation.
- Contribution to project delivery as per customer engagement. Producing detailed component specifications and translate these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products:

- Within a business change programme, assists in the preparation of technical plans and cooperates with business assurance and project staff to ensure that appropriate technical resources are made available.
- Provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
- Proactively upskilling and identifying emerging technologies which could be adopted into Westpac Automation and enhance our BAU automation or stability of our Wintel systems.
- Taking part in a rotating roster for on call support for the Windows L3 Operations team.

**What do I need?**

The **Infrastructure Technical Lead **is a strong Senior Engineering Windows SME with strong Windows troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, strong understanding of VMware and supporting VMware hosting environments. Troubleshooting and Root cause analysis with a focus on Windows workloads, strong experience with Active Directory Services, including Group Policy and other related services, strong experience supporting Tier 1 base tooling on Windows (Antivirus, Backup, Configuration Management).

To be successful in this role, you need to have the following skills & personal attributes.

**Technical and Industry Expertise**
- Engineering level experience in deploying and supporting Wintel servers, AD, backup, and virtualised technology in a large and complex environment (On-Premises & Cloud). Strong Wintel analytical & troubleshooting skillset.
- Deep understanding of Group Policy and Active Directory authentication
- Strong knowledge of VMware and Cloud hosting technologies from a support and diagnosis perspective
- Expert knowledge of Wintel roles and feature operability: Clustering, DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc.
- Understanding of Splunk and APP Dynamics
- Deep understanding of Windows Pattern including support systems and toolsets.
- Ability to decipher and assess logging and diagnostic information to identify patterns.
- Heightened knowledge of network model (OSI) and troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced experience with PowerShell scripting for server administration\automation.
- Working closely with Information Security to manage and monitor security patching for servers, endpoint security, and OS hardening - clear understanding of ciphers applicable to the windows estate.
- Operationalise new systems or technologies that fall under Windows L3 responsibility
