Our programs empower people to maintain independence, manage health and lifestyle, and build community connections.Through our Medicare Mental Health Centres (MMHC), funded by Brisbane North PHN, we provide safe, inclusive, and free support for individuals with moderate to severe mental health concerns, as well as their carers and families.
Our "Peer First, Peer Throughout, and Peer Last" model ensures lived and living experience is at the heart of everything we do.About the roleThe Peer Services Guide will be the first point of contact for people seeking support at our Lutwyche Medicare Mental Health Centre.
This role is about walking alongside people with empathy, respect, and lived experience, supporting them to navigate systems, strengthen resilience, and take the lead in their recovery journey.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will: Build strong, trust-based relationships with individuals, families, carers, and kin.
Provide person-driven support, empowering people to make informed decisions.
Respond to distress using peer-based frameworks such as IPS, ECPR, and Alt2Suicide.
Advocate for recovery-oriented practice and support connections to services.
Contribute to ongoing program development and lived experience workforce growth.
What We're Looking ForWe'd love to hear from you if you have: Lived or living experience of mental health challenges, recovery, and system navigation.
Strong understanding of peer practice and person-driven recovery principles.
Skills in providing peer support one-on-one, in groups, and in responding to distress.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
High-level interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable: Training or certification in peer work, or substantial experience in frontline peer support roles Why Join Us?
