CareFlight was founded in 1986 as an aeromedical charity with the mission to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community. Today, we deliver services nationally. Our critical care doctors, paramedics and nurses are specially trained in emergency and trauma, pre-hospital and remote medicine and we use helicopters, jet aircraft, turbo-prop planes and road vehicles to reach and treat patients wherever they are.
We run accredited training for clinical specialists; operate extensive aviation and logistic training for our employees and other organisations; run a range of free education and training programs in regional, rural and remote areas, and partner with emergency service organisations, defence forces and businesses to deliver our expertise.

**The role**
Due to an exciting new service, we are currently seeking multiple patient transport drivers to join our Blue Mountains based patient transport service team on a casual basis.
As a key member of the crew, you will work with a team of professionals, be part of a leading aeromedical organisation and enjoy a roster that will allow you a life outside of work. Key responsibilities will include:

- Perform logístical assessment for safe and effective patient transfer in accordance with CareFlight policies and procedures, regulations and within prescribed scope of practice.
- Collect and transfer patients in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Actively participate in the loading / unloading and manoeuvring of patients pre and post transfer, ensuring the use of appropriate manual handling techniques and standard operating procedures.
- Perform components of First Aid as and when required by the clinical staff on duty.
- Ensure patient safety and safe systems of work are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of the patient.
- Undertake daily vehicle inspections to ensure both roadworthiness and cleanliness.
- Maintain vehicle log sheets and related documentation.
- Tend to basic vehicle needs (fuel, checking fluids and tyre pressure, cleaning / washing and submitting for servicing as required).
- Liaise with the Logistics Coordination Unit as required.
- Report any defects and deficiencies of the vehicle and equipment and replace identified items of vehicle inventory used.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe and courteous driving at all times.
- Other duties as directed by your manager.

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will be a confident problem solver and demonstrate your decision-making skills with the ability to act quickly, as well as manage exposure of high acuity patients in a calm and professional manner.
You will hold a current unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence with an excellent driving record and current First Aid certification (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

- Ability to perform work of a physical nature.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team as well as follow instructions and work within standard operating procedures.
- Ability to prioritise and be able to plan and organise workload.
- Willingness and ability to undertake minor motor vehicle maintenance.
- Current NSW Working with Children (WWC) clearance or the ability to obtain.
- Willingness to perform duties at other locations in Greater Sydney as required.
- Available to perform shifts up to 12 hours across a 24-hour rotating roster.
- Willingness and ability to maintain immunisation against identified diseases in accordance with CareFlight's Screening & Vaccination Policy.

The following will also be highly regarded:

- Sound geographical knowledge of local area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manual handling techniques.
