**About the Role**:
**As the Principal Policy Officer, you will**:

- Lead and participate in the development of briefings, reports, and submissions including key departmental Cabinet submissions that achieve improved early childhood education and care outcomes.
- Provide timely and quality advice to the Minister for Education, the Deputy Director-General, the Executive Director, and other senior officers of the department in relation to strategic issues in the early childhood education and care sector.
- Identify, analyse and progress strategic issues and formulate innovative and workable solutions and strategic advice to senior managers across the division.
- Lead and participate in programs and projects providing direction, guidance and technical assistance to teams involved.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a range of frameworks, systems and processes that include data and performance analysis, program and project management, governance and risk management, and investment and evaluation management.
- Achieve a strong customer focus for all branch activities by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with departmental business units and other stakeholders.
- Represent the department and coordinate the department's contribution to a range of internal and external committees and forums.
- Maintain a current knowledge of developments and initiatives in early childhood education and care, particularly regulatory policy, legislation and practice.

**As a Principal Policy Officer, you will**:

- Have a strong background in one or more of the following: performance improvement / policy / evaluation / data analysis.
- Demonstrate the flexibility to work across a number of programs and projects.
- Be an exceptional writer and communicator.
- Have excellent attention to detail and coordination skills
- Be innovative and collaborative.
